ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I have been an Art Instructor for City College of San Francisco for over 30 years.  I am a graduate of Penn. State University in Art Education and have an MA from San Francisco State in Educational Technology and Media.

Recently I have come back to my love of collage, incorporating animals, nature and pets in abstract or surreal landscapes.  I love to mix textures, bold colors and place things in unexpected places.  I want my viewer to wonder where this place is and what materials were used.  I also do photo collages of pets in places.  People provide a picture of their pet and I either paint or collage their furry friend in and amazing picture.  I love experimenting with building out from the flat surface with paper or fabric.  It adds a 3-dimensional effect that contributes to the surreal effect.

I also have an angel series.  I place angels in landscapes or alone as protective and spiritual icons.

I am lucky to have taught courses for CCSF that have been so diverse such as:  World Cultures and Art, Art For Seniors, Art For the Disabled, Arts And Crafts and Art Appreciation.
