Jennifer Alpaugh

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Jennifer Alpaugh lives in Pacifica and studied at UCLA, where she received her B.A. Degree in Art.  She  works primarily with oil paint on canvas, acrylic based silkscreen, and various drawing media.

The subject matter for her work includes large abstract flowers, landscapes, and portraits of friends and family.  She enjoys moving between the contrast of painting the large flowing forms of landscapes and flowers and the more exacting rigor of painting portraits.

Jennifer’s work has been shown at the Sanchez Art Center’s West Wing, East Wing, and Main Galleries; the Skyline College Gallery; the College of San Mateo; the Pacifica Library; the Noe Valley Ministry’s Gallery Sanchez; the Pacifica Performing Arts Center’s Concert Hall, the Palo Alto Research Center, the San Mateo Library, and the Rotunda Gallery at the City Hall of Daly City.

She received an Award of Excellence for her painting at the Pacifica Art Guild’s annual members’ show and the First Prize at the Daly City Visual Arts League members’ show.  She paints commissioned portraits and has created drawings and illustrations for books and literary publications.   She is also a member of Tangerine Arts, a group of artists who show their work throughout the Bay Area (www.tangerinearts.net).
